Francisco currently serves as the Second Bassoonist of the Louisville Orchestra and is a dedicated bassoon professor at the University of Louisville. Originally hailing from Puerto Rico, Francisco earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico and later pursued a Master of Music degree at the prestigious Yale School of Music.
Before joining the Louisville Orchestra, Francisco honed his craft as a fellow with the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida. During his time there, he had the opportunity to collaborate with internationally acclaimed artists and delivered a memorable solo performance for the legendary film composer John Williams.
Beyond his deep-rooted passion for classical music, Francisco is an avid explorer of diverse musical genres. Under the alias VG Bassoonist, he is committed to expanding the role of the bassoon across various musical landscapes, challenging traditional boundaries, and bringing this unique instrument into new and exciting contexts.
