Francisco received a partial instrument grant from the National Alliance for Audition Support (NAAS) to purchase a bassoon bocal, enhancing his professional development as a bassoonist. NAAS provides individualized, long-term support to orchestral musicians from Black and Latino communities by offering financial assistance and resources necessary for pursuing successful careers in orchestral performance.

Francisco is teaching this year at the Eastern Music Festival (EMF) in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he joins an accomplished faculty in guiding over 265 young musicians from around the world. Under the artistic direction of Gerard Schwarz, he helps these talented individuals take pivotal steps towards their careers in the performing arts, contributing to a legacy of excellence in classical music education.

Francisco is happy to be coaching at Carnegie Hall's NYO2 program again this summer. NYO2 (National Youth Orchestra) is a program where outstanding young American instrumentalists from underrepresented communities in classical music come together for intensive training. During a residency at Purchase College, State University of New York, Francisco works closely with these talented musicians, helping to shape the future of classical music alongside top players from American orchestras and conservatories.

Francisco was featured on the cover of the April issue of International Musician Magazine, with the lead article highlighting his biography and the significance of active involvement in organized action.

Francisco is thrilled to be invited back to perform with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. This time, he will be featured in performances of iconic works such as Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and Jupiter Symphony, accompanying no other than the great Andrew Brady.

Francisco will be part of Sphinx's SOPA Jury for this year's competition. As described by the Sphinx Organization:

SOPA transforms lives by providing aspiring orchestral musicians the unique opportunity for professional auditions, pre-advancements, placement on substitute and contractor lists, while addressing the historic lack of representation on stage. The ultimate goal of the SOPA initiative is job placement and assisting American orchestras in better reflecting our communities.

For the first time, Francisco performs as part of the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra in Columbus Ohio playing pieces by Julia Perry as well as Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 performed by Garrick Ohlsson.

Beginning this year, Francisco will take on the role of bassoon professor at the University of Louisville. In this position, he will be responsible for teaching bassoon, leading chamber music ensembles, and contributing to the broader music curriculum. His appointment marks an exciting new chapter for both the university and his career.

Francisco is excited to announce that he has been invited back to this year's VIA Academy 2023 program in Miami Florida as part of the bassoon/woodwind faculty.

I am very excited to be touring this year with the Louisville Orchestra for their Harmony Tour. The Louisville Orchestra will bring the joy of music to the broader Kentucky Commonwealth.

Really excited to play Nancy Galbraith's Sonata for Bassoon and Piano at this year's Meg Quigley Vivaldi Competition in addition to giving a masterclass as well as be part of the judges for this year's Vivaldi competition. Really looking forward to it!

Incredibly honored to join the SPCO in their season opener featuring Stravinsky's Pulcinella and Beethoven 7. This will also mark Andrew Brady's first official performance as the new Principal Bassoonist of the SPCO. Very exciting!

A group of New World Symphony alumni play at the Kennedy Center Honors to celebrate Michael Tilson Thomas legacy and impact in classical music. Francisco is honored to have been part of this ensemble.

Bomba! Plena! Danza! From Africa to Spain, join Bassoon Fellow Francisco Joubert Bernard to discover Puerto Rico´s most popular folkloric music styles their origins and race connotations. Emphasis will be placed on how race and social status shaped these genres. In addition, throughout the lecture, myths, such as where salsa originally comes from or where the reguetón rhythm came from, will be debunked.

The somber ceremonial introduction, with its dotted rhythms and trills, swiftly transitions into a tongue-in-cheek Presto; pianist John Wilson, oboist Kristin Kall, and bassoonist Francisco J. Joubert Bernard displayed impeccable musicianship throughout the fast-paced unison figurations.
