NAAS Instrument Grant Recipient

Francisco received a partial instrument grant from the National Alliance for Audition Support (NAAS) to purchase a bassoon bocal, enhancing his professional development as a bassoonist. NAAS provides individualized, long-term support to orchestral musicians from Black and Latino communities by offering financial assistance and resources necessary for pursuing successful careers in orchestral performance.

Francisco is teaching this year at the Eastern Music Festival (EMF) in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he joins an accomplished faculty in guiding over 265 young musicians from around the world. Under the artistic direction of Gerard Schwarz, he helps these talented individuals take pivotal steps towards their careers in the performing arts, contributing to a legacy of excellence in classical music education.

Francisco is happy to be coaching at Carnegie Hall's NYO2 program again this summer. NYO2 (National Youth Orchestra) is a program where outstanding young American instrumentalists from underrepresented communities in classical music come together for intensive training. During a residency at Purchase College, State University of New York, Francisco works closely with these talented musicians, helping to shape the future of classical music alongside top players from American orchestras and conservatories.

Sphinx 2024 SOPA Jury

Francisco will be part of Sphinx's SOPA Jury for this year's competition. As described by the Sphinx Organization:

SOPA transforms lives by providing aspiring orchestral musicians the unique opportunity for professional auditions, pre-advancements, placement on substitute and contractor lists, while addressing the historic lack of representation on stage. The ultimate goal of the SOPA initiative is job placement and assisting American orchestras in better reflecting our communities.


ProMusica Chamber Orchestra
